The Detroit Pistons failed to meet expectations for the 2017-18 NBA season and ended with disappointment followed by an executive overhaul, but there were still some good times. Here’s a look back at the top 10 moments.

Entering the 2017-18 NBA season, the Detroit Pistons held high hopes of returning to the playoffs for the first time in two years. It was time to take the next leap of development with a roster chock-full of youth and a team hungry to fare better than the sweep taken on the chin during the 2016 NBA Playoffs at the hands of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Head coach Stan Van Gundy, who has since been fired by the organization, controlled the roster moves and the prediction would be that his old-school approach could guide a group of youngsters entering their prime to jell into a well-oiled machine led by All-Star Andre Drummond, veterans in Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson, and project-players like Stanley Johnson and rookie Luke Kennard.

The outlook on the season quickly turned grim when Reggie Jackson was sidelined with injury for six-plus weeks in late December. With no true ball-handler or experience at the point guard, Van Gundy’s bunch showed their inexperience and youth.

An eight-game losing streak in January decimated hopes for the season, but was soon followed by a head-scratcher of a trade at the end of the month. Blake Griffin was brought to the Motor City and it seemed as if the Pistons might make that playoff push. Unfortunately, in a short span of time, everything changed and what seemed to be a push for the playoffs after landing Griffin quickly ended with another year of failing to compete in the feeble Eastern Conference.

Through all of the trials and tribulations though, fans still have something to smile about. Let’s go back in time to reflect on the best moments with the top 10 from the 2017-18 campaign.
