3. Luke Babbitt

Luke Babbitt is the example of a player who is just hitting free agency at the wrong time. After a midseason trade to the Heat from the Atlanta Hawks, his shooting numbers plummeted. Prior to the trade, he was shooting 47.6 percent from the floor and 44.1 percent from 3-point range. After the trade, he shot a lowly 23.4 percent and 24.4 percent, respectively. The main thing he will be banking on is his career production outweighing those struggles.

For his career, he’s a 40.2 percent shooter from 3-point range. He would instantly provide a boost over Stanley Johnson at the small forward spot on offense. While his defense leaves something to be desired, he would be signed for his shooting more than his work on that end. Dwane Casey’s offense helps generate good looks from 3-point range. He also needs more shooters off the bench, where Babbitt would fit right in.

Babbitt would be a great possibility for the cash-strapped Pistons. He has yet to make more than $2 million on any of his contracts thus far in his career. Due to his limited skill-set, he’ll have a limited market for his services. If the market is as soft as expected, the Pistons could easily make a play for him.
