Detroit Pistons: 5 potential free agency targets in 2018
4. Anthony Tolliver
Tolliver is one of the team’s three free agents. He’s also the only one the team should bring back. At 33 years old, Tolliver isn’t going to average 30-plus minutes a game as he did earlier in his career. However, he does still give the team great minutes off the bench, particularly with his shooting.
Tolliver posted impresssive .464/.436/.797 shooting splits last year. He has the legitimate stretch-4 ability needed by modern-day bigs. Neither of the team’s top bigs in Andre Drummond or Blake Griffin are great shooters. From 3-point range, Griffin shot 34.8 percent, while Drummond only attempted 11 all season.
Meanwhile, Tolliver took 365 of his 472 total shot attempts from 3-point range. He knew what he did well, and that is what he focused on.
Tolliver signed a one-year, $3.3 million deal last offseason. He played right at that value. If the team signed him at that exact same value over a two-year deal, it would be a great decision. Tolliver will always need to be paired with defensive players around him, but he can easily shine on the offensive end as a spot-up shooter.
