Oklahoma City Thunder: 2017-18 player grades for Patrick Patterson
Final grade
For Patrick Patterson, this season could have been better if he produced, but he will have another opportunity next season. While there were some bright spots, there were pretty fleeting.
For Patterson to fit in with the team he will have to start hitting his 3s and make more shots. The team has fault in this too. Patterson did not take more than 10 shots in a game this season.
Patterson is a player that is dependent on somebody giving him the ball. The Thunder will have to give him more opportunities to shoot the ball. Getting open shots is hard in the NBA, but with a player like Westbrook, he should be able to make it easier.
Patterson was the starter until the team signed Carmelo Anthony. That may have stopped him from producing, as Raymond Felton in the second unit is not as hard of a driver or facilitator as Westbrook, so that negated his ability to get open.
If the Thunder are able to get Patterson in a lineup that makes sense to his skill-set, he can then be effective for the Thunder.
