3. Re-sign Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo proved to be more valuable than expected for the Pelicans once the playoffs rolled around, providing a steady on-ball presence while posting some very Rondo-esque stat lines.

The former NBA champion averaged 10.3 points, 12.2 assists and 7.6 rebounds in nine postseason games, proving that he deserves another contract with New Orleans once free agency begins on July 1.

Once that date does come, the front office should lock up Rondo for the foreseeable future, as he’s clearly proven his worth during the team’s run to the second round.

With probably the highest basketball IQ in the league and a penchant for dishing the rock, Rondo allows Jrue Holiday to play off the ball, which, as was shown during the playoffs, suits the former All-Star much better, allowing both he and Rondo to play to their strengths.

Rondo no doubt has imperfections — most notably his inability to shoot from anywhere outside the restricted area — but it makes little sense for the front office to let a guy sign elsewhere after he was so crucial to their best playoff run since 2008.
