1. Capable of growing with the rest of the team

The Chicago Bulls currently employ just two players that are 30 years or older. The team’s top four players — Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen and Bobby Portis — are all under the age of 25. By adding Hutchison and fellow draft pick Wendell Carter Jr., Chicago is officially in the midst of a youth movement.

With this youth movement, the Bulls have solid young players at each position. Specifically, Dunn is running the point, LaVine and Hutchison are on the wings, Markkanen stretches the floor at power forward and Portis and Carter hold down the paint.

A lot can change in a small amount of time in the NBA as trades, injuries and free agency can change a team’s trajectory. However, the lineup as it stands is one that can definitely grow into a formidable playoff team. Hutchison can help move the process along by scoring efficiently, improving defensively and maintaining his body.

Chandler Hutchison is an athletic wing that can score in a variety of ways and rebound well. His work ethic allowed him to go from freshman benchwarmer to All-Conference senior. Now he takes the next step as an NBA rookie. We’ll see what he becomes as a player, but based off of his tools and upside, he will likely prove to be a smart pick for the Chicago Bulls.
