4. Great rebounding for a wing

Hutchison’s height and wingspan allows him to proficiently pull down a lot of rebounds. He averaged 7.7 rebounds per game in 2017-18, best on the Broncos and sixth-best in the Mountain West Conference. That number grows to 9.9 when expanded to per 40 minutes.

Hutchison pulled down at least 10 rebounds in 12 of his 31 games last season and at least five in 24 games. He notched 11 double-doubles and one triple-double thanks to his ability on the boards. His career-high is 18 boards, which he grabbed in a neutral site win over Illinois State. Hutchison also collected 14 rebounds in a loss to Washington in the NIT.

His rebounding prowess will be very useful in Chicago. The Bulls averaged 44.7 rebounds per game, sixth-most in the league. They likely see Hutchison’s ability to clean the glass as icing on the cake, getting him mainly for his body and scoring. However, his skill will definitely help the Bulls control the pace of games, either by ending opponent’s possessions or extending their own.

It’s great that players like Robin Lopez, Bobby Portis and Lauri Markkanen can rebound well already. The Bulls will be even more formidable on the boards knowing that Chandler Hutchison has the ability to also swoop in and get the ball too.
