4. Adequate playmaking

Make no mistake; the Sixers already have a solid primary ball-handler on the roster in Simmons, who is always a legitimate threat to put up a triple-double on any given night. This is only one of the reasons he was named the 2018 NBA Rookie of the Year.

However, while Shamet was initially recruited at the 2-guard spot, the guy has some playmaking ability as well. During the 2016-17 campaign, Shamet averaged 3.3 assists per contest while averaging just 1.1 turnovers per outing – an assist- to-turnover ratio of 3.0.

In 2017-18, while his assist-to-turnover ratio dipped a bit to 2.5, he led the conference in assists with 5.2 per outing and his assist percentage jumped up from 22.2 percent during what was technically his freshman season, to 28.8 percent last year.

Based on the current makeup of the roster, Shamet will not be asked to be the lead facilitator. But if and when that time does come, it is a role he will be comfortable with.
