Through an NBA career that has spanned 10 years and six teams, Luc Mbah a Moute’s calling card has been his defense.

Most recently, with the Rockets, the 6’8″ veteran relied on those defensive skills to carve out a vital spot in the rotation on a roster full of offensive playmakers and shooters.

Mbah a Moute has never been much of a scorer (6.4 points per game), but the best team in the league during the regular season found 25 minutes per game for him and 16 minutes a night in the playoffs because they needed him to get stops.

The Pistons are trying to get back into the playoff picture in an Eastern Conference that features frontcourt scorers like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jayson Tatum and (maybe) LeBron James.

Adding the 31-year-old Mbah a Moute — a former teammate of Detroit’s All-Star power forward Blake Griffin — to the lineup will help them toward that goal.
