2. Shooting

Kurucs isn’t necessarily a proven knockdown shooter, but his stroke and footwork are palpable.

In the video below, there are several instances of good shooting form via Kurucs:

He “dips” the ball before firing, which is a tendency of a fluid stroke. Also, his feet usually point toward the basket, which is always a good sign.

He did not convert like a sniper, only ripping twine on 32.8 percent of his 64 3-point attempts combined between both teams. With the second division team (the team he played 16 of his 26 games for), he executed marginally better on 33.3 percent of 57 triples.

Part of this could be due to his role. With the second division team, he had a much bigger role than he is projected to in the NBA. His abilities to score and initiate for others are nice tools to stick in his back pocket, but it did compromise his marksmanship. In a specialized role, he could very easily refine this efficiency.

If he does this well, he will earn more minutes in the NBA, and therefore more opportunities to unearth those next-level skills. If that happens, he will far outperform his draft position and projected role as a shooter.
