6. Steph puts on a show against Kyrie

A Jan. 27 matchup pitted the Warriors against the Boston Celtics, and with it, a rematch of the two starting point guards from the past two (technically three) NBA Finals: Stephen Curry and Kyrie Irving.

Neither would disappoint in this nationally televised contest, with Irving scoring 37 on 13-of-18 and Steph topping him, scoring 49 with eight 3-pointers in a 109-105 victory at Oracle Arena.

Since KD’s arrival in the Bay area, Curry’s creativity with the basketball has decreased significantly.

His numbers are still All-Star worthy, but Steph used to push the boundaries of what a 6’3″ marksman could do on the basketball court, wowing us with dribble combinations followed by 30-footers that dropped in without a single movement from the net.

Now, he’s more under control, attacking more and pulling up less, which bodes well for Golden State’s efficiency but saddens us fans who became so accustomed to Curry’s wild shooting sprees before Durant arrived.

However, on nights like this one, the baby-faced assassin is brought back to a time where his momentum allows him to play with a flow and creativity that helped him rise to the upper echelon of NBA greats.
