7. Win at Cleveland on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

After the Cleveland Cavaliers had revamped their roster in the offseason, many were antsy to see how they would handle a matchup against the Warriors.

Injuries to both starting point guards robbed us of said matchup on Christmas. Fast forward to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and we would finally get to see how Kyrie Irving‘s replacement in Isaiah Thomas would affect this rivalry.

Needless to say, even at Quicken Loans Arena, Thomas didn’t make up the difference, as Golden State won by a final score of 118-108.

Using their patented third quarter run — outscoring Cleveland 36-27 — the Warriors were able to take the lead heading into the final frame and ride it all the way to a victory.

It was a deflating loss for the Cavs, not only because they built up a nine-point lead, but because the team had hoped guys like Thomas and Jay Crowder would make their battles with GSW more competitive.

With this win on MLK Day, the Warriors showed that it would take a lot more than those two if the Cavs wanted to get on their level.
