8. KD’s game-winner on Kobe Bryant‘s special night

Dec. 18 was a special night in southern California. The Los Angeles Lakers were retiring both of Kobe Bryant’s numbers, sending No. 8 and No. 24 to the rafters where they would rest among other Lakers legends.

Golden State was lucky enough to be the opponent on that night, getting a first row seat for what was sure to be a magical evening. The ceremony took place at halftime, and shortly after there was a tightly contested game to be decided.

As the game headed into overtime, Kobe couldn’t afford to let his girls stay up past their bedtime, but even with the Mamba’s exit, Durant made sure to do his best impersonation, drilling a go-ahead shot with under 10 seconds to play.

It may have been Bryant’s night, but that moment belonged solely to KD, and it was a perfect reminder that even though he may lose stature playing next to three other All-Stars, Durant is still a walking bucket, capable of closing out games with shots just like this one.
