1. Great shooter

One of the biggest strengths of Porter’s game is his shooting. He has an excellent looking jump shot with a high release. Porter almost never gets his shot blocked. He can shoot from all over the floor and has good NBA range on his 3-point shot. Porter is smart at getting himself open for jump shots either off-ball or even with the ball in his hands.

Porter is fantastic at catch-and-shoots and spot-up opportunities. He can shoot off of screens and doesn’t need to get his feet set to get his shot off. He has no problem shooting over a defender and is very crafty.

ESPN said Porter is an “impressive on-the-move shooter for a player his size. Can pick-and-pop to space, sprint off screens or rise up off the dribble, even from beyond NBA 3 at times.”

His shooting ability will allow him to see early minutes once he is healthy. Porter can play power forward and help the Nuggets space the floor when he is on the court. He will see plenty of open catch-and-shoot looks by playing with Jokic, Murray and Paul Millsap.

Defenses have to respect Porter from deep. Once he gets them worried on that, he can show them a pump fake and blow by his defender for an open lane to the hoop. Even if Porter’s other skills don’t come around, his height and shooting touch should allow him to hang around the league for awhile.
