Detroit Pistons: 3 reasons Bruce Brown Jr. was a good pick
By Amaar Burton
1. Brown is a first round talent
It may have been the foot injury, or that he’s not quite the ideal height for a modern-day 2-guard, or perhaps his shooting ability itself — Brown made only 26 percent of his looks from 3-point range this past season — but it’s easy to see why Brown slipped into the second round.
He wasn’t a big-time scorer in college, which people will forgive if you play for Duke or Kentucky. But even though Brown did share the backcourt with first round pick Lonnie Walker IV as a sophomore, it’s not like Miami is viewed as a loaded team. If you are the Hurricanes’ best or second-best player, it’s fair to assume you should be putting up impressive numbers.
Still, many draft experts and college hoops followers agree that Brown was a first round talent who happened to wind up in the second round.
