Brooklyn Nets: 5 reasons Dzanan Musa was a good pick

4. Immediate presence
A lot of teams late in the first round considered Musa’s rawness and intent to play in the NBA immediately to be detriments. Many of the teams picking in the 20s are already legitimate contenders, so the margins of the roster are more important to them.
But because the Nets were picking via the Toronto Raptors‘ slot (thanks to the DeMarre Carroll trade), they had a favorable position to take a swing at the guy with the highest upside remaining. Musa has a strong argument to fit that bill, and quickly.
As I previously mentioned, Musa was an integral scoring option on KK Cedevita. Other than wunderkind Luka Doncic, not may teenagers are given such vital roles roles on professional clubs in Europe. Because of that experience, Musa’s game can translate immediately, and justify his desire to come over so quickly.
Playing in a professional environment at such a young age can either make or break a youngster. In Musa’s case, he owned the role, and earned even more minutes when his microwave heated up. He’ll be ready to contribute immediately, so long as he can bulk up his wiry frame and improve on the defensive end.
