With the 29th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Brooklyn Nets selected Dzanan Musa. Here are five reasons he is a good pick.

As the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft came to a close, the selections available to the Brooklyn Nets were still likely to warrant sufficient value. As I and many other draft pundits have stated leading up to Thursday night, a cluster of 30-40 prospects could be acceptably ranked in any various order.

So when the Nets were on the clock at No. 29, the choices were still copious. From upside picks to immediate contributors, a vast array of different players would’ve been sufficient here. General manager Sean Marks still did a great job compared to other prospects on the board by selecting wing Dzanan Musa of Bosnia and Hezegovina.

Due to Musa’s intent to come over and play immediately, his stock plummeted. Not many teams at the back end of the first round had roster spots or playing time for raw international players like Musa. This worked out well for the Nets, as they not only filled a need for a scoring wing, but also got a player with higher upside than many of the picks around No. 29.

That is a rough interpretation of why fans should be happy about the selection, but next are five fully detailed reasons as to why Musa is great for the present and future of the franchise.
