2. Bringing the versatility

The addition of Bamba creates new and exciting lineups for the team that just haven’t been available with the rigid makeup of the roster in recent years.

Bamba, while thought of as a center, could play anywhere across the frontcourt, especially if his aforementioned shooting touch is there from early on.

Combine that with the players already on the team and it is exciting to think of which combinations the Magic can put on the court on a given night. The rigidness of the previous iteration of the roster last season, with conventional players like Elfrid Payton and Biyombo, was tough to watch on a lot of nights — especially when going against quality teams with different ways to play depending on the opposition.

The Magic aren’t there yet, but with the addition of Bamba and Isaac before him, they have taken positive steps in that direction. On top of that, the potential ability to switch seamlessly on defense may be the real reason Bamba was taken in the first place.

There’s no doubt this roster now looks more capable of switching up the game plan no matter who the opponent is. Bamba’s skill-set is a big reason for this.
