Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking team’s 2018 draft picks from worst to best
The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2018 draft class left something to be desired. Ranking them from worst to best seems like the best way to make light of an underwhelming situation.
It’s difficult to question the decisions of the Los Angeles Lakers. Their scouting staff has worked miracles in recent years, bringing in quality players like Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart with late first round picks. The names they announced during the 2018 NBA Draft are concerning, though.
To put it bluntly, I was disappointed with the Lakers’ three selections on Thursday night. Not that it’s the franchise’s job to impress me, but it was an underwhelming haul.
With their need for immediate contributors, backcourt depth and a well-rounded big, it doesn’t feel like any check boxes were effectively marked. I’m hoping I’m wrong, but that’s my initial reaction after watching the madness unfold.
To help you understand my current mindset, I’ve decided to rank the newest Lakers from worst to best. You may not feel the same way, but I’d like to give you a different perspective on what could turn out to be a busted draft class for Los Angeles.
For now, I’ll try to remain positive because, well, the Lakers have earned the benefit of the doubt. Just going off my gut feeling, though, this could be a significant setback for the rebuild.
