3. Playmaking capabilities

Likely to play point guard for the majority of his career, it’s reasonable to expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to run the offense for the Clippers.

With lanky arms, SGA has the potential to maneuver through pick-and-rolls in order to get the rim for either himself or dish it off once a defender rotates over.

He was solid during his time at Kentucky, averaging 5.1 assists in 33.7 minutes per game. Judging by point guard standards, 5.1 isn’t terrible, but it’s not great, especially considering his 2.7 turnovers as well.

Luckily for both SGA and the Clippers, playmaking is something one can learn over time. He may make mistakes early on, but by being tasked with such a job, Gilgeous-Alexander will learn the nuances of the position, allowing him to see what he does wrong.

Throughout his rookie season, Gilgeous-Alexander is sure to make plenty of mistakes with the ball in his hands, but it’s those mishaps that will allow him to grow into a point guard capable of running an NBA-level offense.
