3. Passing of the mantle

Dirk Nowitzki’s days in a Dallas Mavericks uniform are numbered. Although the 7’0″ German is 40, he plans on playing the next season before evaluating how much more he can give to the Mavericks organization.

Nowitzki is the 2006-07 MVP and is sixth all-time among the NBA’s scoring leaders. He led Dallas to its first championship in 2011, and to think, he only averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in his rookie season.

Although Doncic has played against former NBA players in Europe, he still may struggle to adjust in his first season. If this does turn out to be the case, having Nowitzki would help Doncic overcome these growing pains. He seems excited to be playing with Nowitzki

It seems fitting that mantle for the Mavericks’ best player would go from former NBA MVP to EuroLeague MVP.
