2. Sexton is marketable and media-friendly

While winning is (or should be) the ultimate goal, the NBA is still a business in an entertainment industry, and teams still want to make money.

One good way to do that is to have popular star players who attract fans and draw media attention. Sexton can fit that bill, whether he’s part of LeBron’s supporting cast or the face of a new era for the Cavs.

On his first night as an NBA player, Sexton already proved to be an entertaining interview who makes headlines and generates social media buzz. His post-pick commentary was all over Twitter:

If the Cavs lose LeBron, they are definitely going to need players and personalities who can keep the team in the spotlight. Even if Cleveland falls out of title contention, the team doesn’t have to become completely irrelevant.
