The Washington Wizards owned a first round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but they may have their sights set on other things after this one.

With five unrestricted free agents and a jacked up payroll, the Washington Wizards are a team in need of something for 2018-19. That something was a bit more than their underwhelming picks in the 2018 NBA Draft, that’s for certain.

The Wizards selected Troy Brown Jr. out of Oregon with the 15th overall pick in the draft to the confusion of many — and with good reason. With Otto Porter Jr. and Kelly Oubre Jr. in the fold, it will be interesting to see what the Wizards do with Brown.

Prior to the offseason, John Wall spoke of needing an athletic big to add to the team’s frontcourt, but an athletic big never came. Ultimately, the Washington Wizards selected a small forward and an international point guard who won’t be eligible to play for them during the 2018-19 season.

The front office must know something we don’t, considering guys like Zhaire Smith, Lonnie Walker IV and Donte DiVincenzo were on the board but still they went with Troy Brown. Here’s a look at draft grades for the Washington Wizards.
