Charlotte Hornets

  • No. 12: Miles Bridges, Michigan State (via Los Angeles Clippers)
  • No. 34: Devonte’ Graham, Kansas (via Atlanta Hawks)
  • No. 55: Arnoldas Kulboka, Lithuania

It was a fairly eventful night for the Charlotte Hornets, who started the evening with picks at No. 11, No. 45 and No. 55. Instead, they wound up choosing at No. 12, No. 34 and No. 55.

Charlotte first added No. 45 from the Nets in the pre-draft Dwight Howard trade. They used it on Hamidou Diallo, but soon shipped him to OKC. With their first round pick, they moved back one spot in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, pocketing two future second-rounders in the process.

Considering they were still able to snag an explosive wing who can knock down the 3-ball and play hard-nosed defense at No. 12 in Miles Bridges, that turned out to be a pretty savvy move.

At this point, with two extra second-rounders on hand, the Hornets thought, “Why not put some to good use?” and dealt two future seconds to the Hawks for the rights to Devonte’ Graham at No. 34.

This feels a little high for Graham, but he’s an accomplished college player who will bring a winning mentality, tough defense, spot-up shooting and solid passing to a rebuilding franchise looking to possibly trade its star point guard, Kemba Walker.

At No. 55, the Hornets added Arnoldas Kulboka, a 6’10” wing from Lithuania who could be a draft-and-stash candidate at 20 years old. He’s a promising spot-up shooter who can also shoot off the dribble and potentially even work the pick-and-roll in time, making him a good fit at No. 55.
