New Orleans Pelicans

  • No. 51: Tony Carr, Penn State

The New Orleans Pelicans missed out on a first round draft pick (No. 22) because of the Nikola Mirotic deal, but I’m pretty sure they’re just fine with a second round playoff appearance for Anthony Davis and the helpful presence of “3-Kola” rather than having the chance to draft Chandler Hutchison.

In the second round, the Pelicans used their lone pick on Tony Carr, a proven scorer who projects to be a spark plug off the bench. He averaged a well-rounded 19.6 points, 5.0 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game at Penn State last year, has a 6’8″ wingspan and shot 43.3 percent from deep.

For a team that needs to start adding depth and scoring around the Brow for the long haul, this is commendable swing for upside.
