Overall

So to recap, the Chicago Bulls came into the draft in need of a defensive presence at the backup center spot and a wing that can get the job done at both ends of the floor. As far as Carter is concerned, his scoring may be somewhat on the pedestrian side, but keep in mind he did manage to put decent numbers while sacrificing a larger role for the sake of being a good teammate.

Along with that, Carter is a capable rebounder and shot-blocker, which means he and Markkanen could eventually provide a formidable one-two punch down the road. Additionally, the Bulls and Robin Lopez will more than likely part ways after next season, as he is playing on the last year of his contract. This should pave the way for Carter to take on a larger role in not-so-distant future.

By taking Hutchison at No. 22, the Bulls got a versatile wing player who can score, rebound, make plays for others and is a decent defender as well. If you were hoping the Bulls would be able to trade up for a guy like Bagley or even Mo Bamba, then you’re not exactly over the moon about these selections.

From an objective point of view, though, the Bulls drafted a couple of good players that should be able to help the team take another step towards becoming a playoff contender once again.
