1. Trae Young (No. 5) — Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young boasted insane averages of 27.4 points and 8.7 assists on 10.3 3-point attempt per game. Thanks to his impressive shooting and vision, he became the first player in NCAA Division I history to lead in both points and assists.

The Atlanta Hawks also drafted Kevin Huerter, a reliable 3-point shooter to help space the floor alongside Young. Despite this, the prospect most compared to two-time MVP Stephen Curry still has many questions surrounding him.

While at Oklahoma, Young was 6’2″ and 170 pounds. His small size makes him a defensive liability similar to Isaiah Thomas. It could also hinder him on offense against bigger, more physical NBA defenders.

Unfortunately, Young also averaged 5.2 turnovers per game. He has been criticized for forcing ill-advised passes and struggles with double-teams.

Young handled the ball a majority of the time with the Sooners, with a high usage rate of 37.1 percent. If the Hawks keep point guard Dennis Schroder, Young will have to learn to share the ball-handling responsibilities. He has also been looked at poorly due to his off-ball movement, or lack thereof.

If Young wants to avoid being a bust, he’ll have to gain strength and be more efficient in other aspects of his offensive game.
