Toronto Raptors: 2017-18 player grades for Kyle Lowry
Highlights
Lowry had three games in which he scored at least 30 points; two of them were part of winning efforts.
In a close win against the Houston Rockets on March 9, Lowry scored 30 points with six assists and three rebounds to help lead Toronto to victory. In a game where James Harden dropped an efficient 40 points, Lowry hit seven of his nine 3s. When he wasn’t knocking down open treys, Lowry used his craftiness and bulky frame (for a point guard) to get to the basket.
Lowry had another sterling performance in the Raptors’ 13-point win over the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 29. Taking advantage of the absence of Kemba Walker — Michael Carter-Williams started in his place — Lowry finished with 36 points and was on fire from 3-point range, shooting 8-for-11 from deep.
Lowry’s finest outing, however, came in a losing effort to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Jan. 20. Despite the loss, Lowry finished with a +6 and scored a season-high 40 points to go along with five boards and five dimes. In addition to torching the T-Wolves’ leaky defense with six 3s on 10 chances, Lowry consistently pushed the tempo in transition to either get a layup or get to the free throw line.
