5. Seth Curry, PG/SG — Dallas Mavericks (unrestricted)

The Houston Rockets already have one of the best ball-handlers the game has ever seen in Chris Paul in addition to James Harden, who has proven he is capable of playing point guard and running the offense. The team, however, could still benefit from having another player who is comfortable with the ball in his hands and can push the pace of play.

The biggest question mark around signing Curry is the fact that he missed the entire 2017-18 season after having surgery for a stress fracture in his lower leg. He was coming off of his best season as a pro when he averaged 12.8 points and 2.7 assists per game in 70 games for the Dallas Mavericks in 2016-17.

The fact that Curry missed so much time could help the Houston Rockets sign him for a low-money contract in the hopes that he can find the form that made him a legitimate offensive threat two years ago. He could also help the team on the defensive end as he averaged 1.1 steals per game in 29.0 minutes for Dallas before his injury.

Curry definitely poses a risk in that he is coming off an injury, but he can play both guard spots, which makes him quite valuable. He is also the brother of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, so it doesn’t hurt to have Seth to provide the Rockets with deeper insights as to how to stop the two-time MVP when the playoffs come around again next season.
