The Houston Rockets will be chasing after superstar free agents this summer, but there are also role players on the market that can help the team improve.

There is no denying that the Houston Rockets will be big-game hunting this summer as they hope to land one of the huge names that make up the 2018 class of free agents. With the likes of LeBron James, Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins and DeAndre Jordan eligible to pick new teams, the Rockets have a chance to add the final piece they need to knock off the Golden State Warriors.

Before they can look at adding a new player to their roster they’ll have to make some difficult decisions about players with expiring contracts. Clint Capela is coming off a season where he could be the NBA’s Most Improved Player and is a restricted free agent this summer.

The team will have to decide how much it’s willing to pay to keep Capela, as other teams could be lining up huge contracts for the young big man. Chris Paul will also become a free agent and will likely have to take a pay cut if Houston wants to add another superstar.

However, the 2017-18 Rockets proved that they have the firepower to hang with the defending champion Warriors, and many would argue that they would have won the Western Conference Finals if Chris Paul had been healthy. Regardless, they showed that they could potentially keep this current core group of players together and take another shot at Golden State next season.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the players that Houston could sign to help add depth to their roster. These are players that will be looking to sign low-money deals on a contending team in the hopes of winning a championship.
