Final grade

Bullock had by far his best season as a pro this year. In addition to playing his most minutes and games, nearly all of his shooting numbers increased significantly. Shooting is a premium in today’s game, and it’s one that most teams have to pay a great portion of cap space to get. The team was able to get Bullock at a severe discount for what he gave them. He ranked second in the entire NBA in 3-point percentage. His grade was mostly based on his offensive production, rather than the defensive end.

On the defensive end, Bullock took his lumps. He showed that he still needs to develop his on-ball defense to be a true 3-and-D type of player. The saying has always been that “defense wins championships,” which holds mostly true. Nearly every NBA champion in recent years has had at least a top-10 defense.

Although offenses are evolving and the rules favor offense more, the defense is still important. Bullock has the physical tools and ability to be one of this team’s tools to becoming a defense in line with their history. He just has to show the consistent ability to lock in on that end.

This team had a disappointing season, but is poised to put that in the past with a new head coach and a revamped roster. Bullock will be part of this movement and has the ability to be a major part of it. If he maintains his shooting numbers and improves his defense, he could become this team’s 3-and-D wing that Johnson hasn’t been. His final grade was good, and it should be even better next year.
