J.J. Redick surprised many when he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers this past offseason. Here’s a look at his performance from the 2017-18 season.
J.J. Redick had a career year with the Philadelphia 76ers this past season. They were his fourth team in his 12-year career and the veteran may have found his niche in Philadelphia.
Redick averaged a career-high 17.1 points along with 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game through 70 appearances for the Sixers. He shot 42 percent from 3-point range, making a career-high 2.8 3-point attempts per game.
Things improved in a hurry for Philadelphia, especially with the addition of Redick. He was second on the team in scoring behind Joel Embiid during the regular season. In the postseason, he found himself in the same position, although the team fell 4-1 to the Boston Celtics in the second round.
He was neutralized in the final two games in their series against the Celtics. The veteran sharpshooter shot 8-for-24 (32.9 percent) from the floor, and as he lost steam down the stretch, so did the Philadelphia offense.
It will be something to continue building for both sides as Redick enters unrestricted free agency territory on July 1. He is currently 33 years of age but he proved to be a resourceful guard for a 52-30 squad in 2017-18. Here’s a look at J.J. Redick’s player grades from last season.
