9. Pels put on ball-moving clinic against Los Angeles Clippers

One aspect of the game that coaches often talk about is ball movement, not letting the ball stick to one side of the court. The willingness to make the extra pass is just one of the reasons why the Golden State Warriors have captured three titles over the past four seasons.

Ironically, the Pels finished third in assists during the regular season and they were the top team in this category during the playoffs with an average of 26.9 per contest. In an early-March matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, New Orleans’ ball movement was exceptional, to say the least.

The Pelicans had the game well in hand as they led by as many as 20 points in the third quarter. However, the Clippers battled back to take a four-point lead with two minutes left in the game before Anthony Davis scored six straight points, enabling New Orleans to escape with a 126-121 victory.

With Rondo and Holiday as the main catalysts, the Pelicans recorded 39 assists on 46 made field goals. As far as ball movement goes, it doesn’t get much more efficient than that.
