Philadelphia 76ers: 3 potential J.J. Redick replacements

3. Seth Curry, Dallas Mavericks
After a breakout season in 2016-17, Seth Curry’s second season with the Mavericks was completely wiped out due to a stress fracture in his left leg that eventually required surgery.
This was unfortunate timing for Curry, who, after going undrafted coming out of Duke, had to make his way into the league the hard way, having made four separate stops before signing a two-year contract with the Mavericks in the summer of 2016.
Playing in a slightly similar mold to his superstar brother Stephen, Curry’s primary strength is his perimeter shooting, a trait that’s increasingly valuable in the modern-day NBA. In 70 games for the Mavericks in 2016-17, Curry averaged 12.8 points in 29.0 minutes per game, which featured hitting at a 42.5 percent clip from 3-point range.
In 42 games as a starter, Curry’s numbers increased to 14.7 points per game while hitting at a 43.3 percent clip from long range.
An unrestricted free agent, Curry’s season-long absence will likely mean he’s going to have to accept an offer less his market value in order to prove his effectiveness again on the court. Although just 6’2″, the attention that will be drawn from the likes of Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons would likely enable Curry to enjoy plenty of good looks should he become a Sixer.
Still just 27, a short-term deal at a reasonable rate would be truly beneficial for both player and team.
