1. Re-sign Marcus Smart

Aside from that unlikely LeBron James union, the top goal of the offseason is to re-sign Smart. Getting him to come back would be a huge bonus. He’s still just 23 years old and entering the prime of his career. This season he dealt with a few injuries, but still had a good year.

Overall, he averaged 10.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He shot the ball 30.1 percent from 3 on 4.6 attempts per game and shot 36.7 percent from the field altogether. One thing that plagues his game is his inability to perform on the offensive end.

There’s no doubt that he needs to work on that because oftentimes we saw him shoot himself out of games. Where he excels and makes up for some of those issues is on the defensive end.

He’s easily one of the best in the game and a complete game-changer. He may do a lot of acting, but he still knows how to be a great defender. The Celtics won’t sign him if he’s demanding too much money, however.

Anything in the $15-20 million range will likely result in an exit. If they can get a discount and get him back for $8-12 million, than it seems feasible. Chris Forsberg of ESPN reported that Smart wants to be back in Boston.

"“I got a lot to think about. There’s a lot of factors that go into it. But that being said, I want to be in Boston. I want to be here.”"

It’s up to Boston to make the next move and bring him back. There are a lot of things the Celtics need to do in order to bring this team to the next level. If take do these five offseason goals, I think it’ll be an even more successful year in 2018-19.
