Final grade

Moving forward, Young might only be viable for the Pacers if he just took the player option that is currently on the table, but that isn’t likely to happen as that number belies his worth, even in a tighter market than normal.

However, looking at this season alone, where Thaddeus Young was a crucial part as a starter in an unexpectedly successful season, the truth is that it’d be hard to be upset with his performance.

With the exception of his scoring, he beat his career averages in steals, assists and rebounds. The scoring output is clearly on the decline, but when the Pacers are winning and have so many ways to score, it doesn’t really matter.

After a long career of individual success on generally bad teams, Thad might have finally found a home in Indiana. However, for his price this season ($12.9 million), you probably need more than 11.8 points per game.
