If the Los Angeles Lakers want to make the most of their second round pick during the 2018 NBA Draft, they’ll target these low-risk, high-reward prospects at No. 47.

In recent years, we’ve learned just how outstanding the Los Angeles Lakers‘ scouting department is. They’ve got a knack for turning late first round and second round picks into capable contributors, which isn’t a common quality in today’s NBA.

The hope is that trend continues during the 2018 NBA Draft.

At this moment, the Lakers currently own the No. 47 pick in June 21’s annual graduation ceremony. It may not seem like an exciting opportunity considering most of the legitimate talent has dried up at that point. Then again, we can’t forget that players like Nikola Jokic and Isaiah Thomas have recently discovered stardom after hearing their names called in the final 20 picks.

What I’m trying to say is there’s always talent to be had if you know where to look. The trend suggests Los Angeles is in the know. So instead of pretending like the No. 47 pick is a throwaway, I’d like to highlight a few low-risk, high-reward prospects the Lakers could spend the selection on.

The following three 2018 NBA Draft prospects all have the makings of second round steals. If they’re still on the board when the Lakers are on the clock at No. 47, they’d be wise to consider casting one of them to the Lake Show.
