4. Bruce Brown Jr., SG — Miami

It’s rare for a college basketball player to be a triple-double threat. The games aren’t long enough, and most college coaches don’t prefer (and don’t have players good enough) to rely on an individual as heavily as, say, an NBA coach would rely on Russell Westbrook or LeBron James to carry such a heavy load on a consistent basis.

In his two collegiate seasons though, Brown was a triple-double threat for the Hurricanes.

The 6’5″ sophomore averaged 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 2017-18 before a foot injury sidelined him for the last two months of the season. When he was healthy, Brown put up a 10-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist stat line in Miami’s season opener against Gardner-Webb.

Two other times during the season, he pulled down double-digit rebounds, and two other times had eight or more assists. Brown also had a triple-double (11-11-10) against South Carolina State during his freshman year.

Brown’s versatility and athleticism should make him a first round talent in my opinion, but he’s currently projected as a second round pick. If the Pistons can get him at No. 42, it could be a steal.
