The Dallas Mavericks are heavily concerned with their lottery pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, but the player they add with the No. 54 overall pick could prove vital as well.

With the 2018 NBA Draft featuring a wide variety of skilled big men, speculation as to what order they’ll be selected continues.

With the No. 5 overall pick, the Dallas Mavericks will undoubtedly select a center to address the most glaring hole on their roster. Personally, I hope they select Texas center Mohamed Bamba if he’s still available.

With so much attention on the Mavericks’ first round pick, many forget that they own both the No. 33 and No. 54 overall picks, with the latter being via the Portland Trail Blazers. Notable second round picks making big impacts in the league today include All-Stars Isaiah Thomas, Draymond Green, DeAndre Jordan and Paul Millsap.

If the Mavericks make the right selection on draft night, they could end up with a solid role player or, even better, a potential star. Let’s take a look at the some prospects the Mavericks could target at the No. 54 spot.
