Charlotte Hornets: 2017-18 player grades for Jeremy Lamb
By Luke Askew
Jeremy Lamb had a breakout season for the Charlotte Hornets in 2017-18. Let’s take a look back at his season and grade his performance.
Former UCONN Huskies star and 2012 lottery pick Jeremy Lamb played the best basketball of his career during the 2017-18 NBA season.
Lamb struggled to gain any sort of traction in the league during his three-year stint with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He averaged a measly 7.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists on 42.2 percent shooting from the field and 34.8 percent shooting from 3.
Perhaps even more disappointing than his production was his opportunity. Lamb only averaged 15.7 minutes per game when he was in OKC. You could say this was due to his lack of production, but it’s hard for any basketball player to find his rhythm in such a limited role.
Lamb joined the Charlotte Hornets in the 2015-16 season and struggled to find his game there as well — until this year.
In his first two years with Charlotte, Lamb produced career-high numbers each season, but it still felt like he had untapped potential. That finally came through in the 2017-18 campaign.
Before we give Lamb his final grade for the season, let’s look at some of his strengths, weaknesses and highlights from the season.
