4. They’re motivated to make history

In this era of championship dominance, the Warriors have become accustomed to making history.

In 2016 they claimed the all-time single-season wins record with 73, then proceeded to become the first team in NBA history to blow a 3-1 series lead in an NBA Finals.

2017 saw them put together the best record in playoff history at 16-1 after amassing what could go down as the most talented roster ever assembled. Now, with two straight titles, they have a chance to add to history by becoming only the third franchise ever to complete the three-peat.

Golden State has never backed away from chasing the record books. In the team’s quest for 73 wins in 2016, players expressed the desire to break what appeared to be an unbreakable record.

Obviously, the Warriors want to win this next championship independent of any additional narratives that may come along with it. However, with the chance to further cement their legacy as one of the greatest teams of all time, Curry and company will surely be playing with extra motivation.

They may coast over the course of the regular season, but with such elusive history on the line, expect the Warriors to crank their intensity and focus all the way up when the time comes, making it all the more difficult to stop what already seems like an impossible to check team.
