2. Landry Shamet

Landry Shamet is another sharpshooting playmaker that the Wizards should consider at No. 44. The 6’5″, 189-pound guard averaged 14.9 points and 5.2 assists per game in his junior season at Wichita State.

It feels like an understatement to say that Shamet is a versatile scorer. He can knock down shots both off the dribble and off the catch. He is also crafty off-the-ball, leading to countless scoring opportunities simply off of cuts to the basket. Shamet can score from anywhere on the floor, shooting 56.0 percent on 2-pointers and 44.2 percent on 3-pointers in 2018.

The question for Shamet is will his body allow him to excel at the NBA level? He’s not a very explosive player, which will hamper him from getting to where he wants on the floor at times. Additionally, he has had surgery on both of his feet: his left foot in 2015, his right in 2017. It’s fair for teams be concerned about those surgeries causing issues down the line.

Best-case scenario, though, selecting Shamet would be one of the bigger steals of the draft. His ability to score is already NBA-tier. It’s simply a matter of if Washington feels his lack of athleticism and medical history overshadows the good.
