4. Malik Newman

Malik Newman could be a good selection for the Wizards if they are looking for a guard that can score in bunches off the bench. Newman was a key starter for a Kansas Jayhawks squad that went to the Final Four. He averaged 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in his redshirt sophomore year in Lawrence.

Newman’s best asset is his ability to score anywhere on the floor. He shot 46.3 percent from the field, including 51.3 percent on 2-pointers and 41.5 percent from 3-point range. He even shot 83.5 percent from the free throw line, despite averaging just 2.9 attempts per game.

Unfortunately, Newman can be a bit of a chucker. He will certainly need to improve his shot selection when he gets to the pro level. Additionally, his 6’3″ stature may give him problems dealing with larger guards on both ends of the floor.

Still, more bench scoring is something the Wizards could benefit from, and Malik Newman has the tools to deliver that in spades.
