In the unlikely event that Deandre Ayton slips to their pick, the Sacramento Kings will have to weigh the good with the bad in order to make a decision.

The Sacramento Kings have one of the better problems an NBA team can have, as they prepare for the 2018 NBA Draft having shot up the order all the way to No. 2 overall.

While they could shock everyone and go a different route, the consensus is that Sacramento will select whoever is left over between Deandre Ayton and Luka Doncic, considered by many to be the top two players in the draft.

As June 21 inches closer, it’s looking like the Phoenix Suns will select the Arizona alum in Ayton with the first pick in the draft.

However, Doncic shouldn’t be ruled out for that spot, as the Suns recently hired Igor Kokoškov to be their new head coach. The two have a relationship from being members of the Slovenian national team.

Should such events transpire, or should the Suns shock the world by picking Mohamed Bamba or Jaren Jackson Jr., it would allow Ayton to fall into Sacramento’s hands, giving it a franchise building block in the paint for the next decade or so.

However, rarely is there a clear choice for a team regarding their selection, even with a pick as high as the one the Kings were so graciously granted by the basketball gods.

Ayton seems like the clear option for a Sacramento team looking to return to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, but maybe the front office should stop and think a little before coming to a conclusion.
