Detroit Pistons: 2017-18 player grades for Stanley Johnson
Highlights
In late January, Johnson teased what he could be if he puts it all together with an exciting performance against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He put up 26 points and 10 rebounds with multiple flashy dunks and passes throughout the game en route to a victory.
In a game where the Pistons dominated their division rival, the Milwaukee Bucks, Johnson was the high point man with 19. Although he didn’t light up the scoreboard, his effectiveness showed with his game-high +36 plus/minus.
He frequently matched up with superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and frustrated him, as he and the team held him to only 11 points.
Johnson showed off his efficiency in a February win over the Brooklyn Nets as he shot 9-of-15 from the field with 19 points. He showed off his defensive acumen as well, totaling three steals over the course of the game.
In addition to these great games, Johnson had some great plays sprinkled in over the course of the season. If he can make even more next season, the Pistons could be in for a great future with Johnson as a focal point.
Without further delay though, let’s get to the final grade for Johnson in the 2017-18 season.
