Dallas Mavericks: 2017-18 player grades for Harrison Barnes
After a solid first year with the Dallas Mavericks, let’s check out where forward Harrison Barnes improved in 2017-18.
As a member of the Golden State Warriors, Harrison Barnes played a huge role in the team’s success in the playoffs. Unfortunately, however, Barnes will mostly be remembered as the scapegoat for the first team to blow a 3-1 series lead in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Two seasons later and the 25-year-old is a member of the Dallas Mavericks. He’s reminded everyone of his star potential, but has yet to produce the same team success that was prevalent with the Warriors.
The Mavericks started the 2017-18 season with an abysmal 2-14 record. They lacked the talent to compete in the Western Conference and missed the playoffs, finishing 24-58. Barnes averaged 18.9 points, a career-high 6.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Despite these impressive averages, the former No. 7 overall pick failed to take the next big step as a Maverick. Let’s evaluate his season before assigning him a grade.
