After shockingly earning the second pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings will have to assess the possible fit of Luka Doncic with their roster.

The Sacramento Kings were the clear-cut winners of the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery back in May.

Projected to draft seventh overall, the Kings leapfrogged five other tanking hopefuls in order to move up to second behind only the Phoenix Suns.

With this pick, Sacramento now has the chance to add a franchise-leading talent to its young core, which would presumably be whoever the Suns don’t take between Deandre Ayton out of Arizona and Luka Doncic from Slovenia.

The Kings should be happy with whoever falls into their lap, as they weren’t expecting to have such a problem to begin with.

As of right now, it looks as though the Suns will end up selecting Ayton, allowing the Kings to draft Doncic. At 6’8″, with the ability to handle the ball and facilitate, Doncic is projected as more of a point-forward than anything, who’s best with the ball in his hands.

Already possessing some nice pieces like De’Aaron Fox and Willie Cauley-Stein, the Kings are still looking for that future superstar who can lead them for the next decade.

Doncic has the potential to be that guy, but with every pick comes a set of pros and cons that have to be assessed before a team makes its decision — factors that could sway a front office one way or the other.
