Cleveland Cavaliers: Buying

The Cavaliers’ 2018 playoff run gave us a clear indication that LeBron is no longer happy in Cleveland. He’s being forced to carry this team on his own, which is only going to get more and more difficult as age takes its toll.

What’s worse is the Cavaliers aren’t in position to make any drastic upgrades this offseason. They’re tapped out on cap space, and don’t really have the assets to acquire any superstars to take some of the load off James’ shoulders. The No. 8 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft is great, but likely won’t yield a short-term solution.

And yet, despite all of the things leaning against the Cavaliers in this equation, they have to be one of the top candidates to win the LeBron Sweepstakes. He’s already bailed once on this city. Can he do that again to the place where he grew up, where his kids go to school, where he’s planted so many roots and changed so many lives?

I just find it hard to believe he’ll do it again. Still, I’m not LeBron, so I don’t know what’s going on in his head.

If Koby Altman can work some magic and add quality pieces without gutting what’s left of this roster, LeBron may stay. He’s got plenty of reasons to do so, and plenty of reasons to slam the door on Cleveland as well. For now, I believe they’re absolutely in the running.
