The Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers… so many options for LeBron James during 2018 NBA free agency. It’s time to play buy or sell on each rumored destination.

At the moment, we’re waiting eagerly for the NBA landscape to change. In less than a month, we should know what the future holds for LeBron James, a decision that could have ripple effects across the league.

Based on the recent rumors, a number of teams could find their way into the race to sign him.

Of course, there are the Los Angeles Lakers. We’ve heard about their interest and reasons why they fit his needs nonstop for the last year or so. The Houston Rockets also figure to enter the mix, especially with his Banana Boat buddy Chris Paul already on board. The Cleveland Cavaliers stand a shot at re-signing him, while the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat could also make a case.

When all is said and done, though, only one team will earn the right to watch James put pen to paper. It’s going to take a superb pitch, plenty of offseason improvement, and a healthy dose of luck. No matter which way you look at it, it’s going to be circus.

2018 NBA free agency begins on July 1, at which point all hell will break loose. Any team with the cap space to sign James (or the ability to create it) will likely give his agent a call to gauge interest. More than likely, though, only a few teams will have a legitimate shot at convincing him to sign on the dotted line.

For now, let’s take a look at the top five rumored destinations, and whether or not we should buy or sell them as actual contenders for the right to sign the generational talent.
