Toronto Raptors: Top 10 NBA Draft picks in franchise history
4. Jonas Valanciunas (C) — No. 5 pick in 2011 NBA Draft
Career stats: 440 GP, 11.7 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.4 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.5 TOV, 55.8 FG%, 78.5 FT%
Jonas Valanciunas has never been a star during his six years with the Raptors, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a consistent contributor in the paint and on the glass.
As more of an inside presence without an outside shot, Valanciunas’s game doesn’t exactly fit the modern NBA, but there have been times he’s able to dominate by using his size and nimble footwork.
Ranking among the top 10 in six major categories in Raptors history, including second in total rebounds, Valanciunas has clearly made his mark on the franchise.
When selecting in the top five of any draft, the ideal goal is to get a superstar talent. Valanciunas may never be considered a top-five player at his position, but day in and day out he’s brought a level of consistency that every team should look for in a player.
